Looking Ahead with Quant Mutual Fund
Quant Mutual Fund has made headlines by emerging as the largest investor in Adani Enterprises’ Qualified Institutional Placement (QIP), which closed on October 15, 2024. With a hefty investment of approximately ₹1,973 crore, Quant Mutual Fund has acquired over 66.6 lakh shares at a price of ₹2,962 per share. This move positions Quant as a key player in Adani Enterprises’ fundraising efforts, holding close to 47% of the total QIP issue size.
Quant Mutual Fund’s flagship scheme, Quant Small Cap Fund, secured a substantial allocation of 17.41% of the entire offering. Other schemes under Quant Mutual Fund, including the Quant ELSS Tax Saver Fund, Quant Active Fund, and Quant Flexi Cap Fund, also gained sizeable stakes, surpassing 7% in the QIP.
The ₹4,200-crore Qualified Institutions Placement issued 1.41 crore equity shares with a face value of ₹1 each to qualified institutional buyers. These shares were priced at ₹2,962 per share, representing a 5% discount from the floor price of ₹3,117.47 per share, creating an attractive offer for institutional investors. The sale began on October 9 and ended on October 15, raising significant capital for the company.

Apart from Quant Mutual Fund, other key investors included Winro Commercial (India) Ltd., which secured 12.5% of the QIP shares, Tree Line Asia Master Fund (Singapore) Pte Ltd. with 5.94%, and SBI Life Insurance, which received 5.05% of the shares.
Adani Enterprises plans to use the proceeds from this QIP to fund capital expenditures and reduce debt within the company and its subsidiaries. This is part of a larger fundraising strategy, as earlier this year, the company’s board approved a ₹16,600-crore (approximately $2 billion) capital-raising plan. The company focuses on expanding in sectors like airports, mining, data centres, and green hydrogen.
With this latest QIP, Adani Enterprises’ paid-up equity share capital has increased from ₹114 crore to ₹115.42 crore. This fundraising effort marks another milestone in the company’s ambitious expansion and growth strategy.
In a previous QIP earlier in 2024, Adani Energy Solutions raised nearly $1 billion, attracting investors such as GQG, Blackrock, and domestic mutual funds, further demonstrating the strong demand for Adani Group offerings.
Quant Mutual Fund’s significant investment in Adani Enterprises underscores its confidence in the company’s long-term growth potential. By becoming the largest investor in this QIP, Quant Mutual Fund has solidified its position as a major institutional player in the Indian market. With the funds raised through this QIP, Adani Enterprises is well-positioned to expand its operations and reduce its debt, further strengthening its leadership across various sectors.
