Argentina's bonds and shares rose, a day after the country's soccer World Cup victory, the S&P Merval (Argentina Companies Stock Index) rose 1.83% and analysis shows that winning the World Cup might increase GDP growth by at least 0.25% in the two subsequent quarters.
Our Opinion: Participation in worldwide organized events like sporting or any other form of activity that garners attention brings people together, and the country that steals the spotlight during such events tends to boost their economic growth as a result. India hosting the cricket world cup in 2023 (and hopefully winning!) will do wonders for the economy in the long run.

Companies have to now use 75% of the proceeds of the buyback undertaken through the stock exchange route from the existing minimum of 50%.

If Sebi’s plans go ahead, brokers will only execute trades and no money from an investor’s bank account will go into a broker’s.

It was suggested that if the index trading time is extended till 8 pm, then the Indian market will be synced with European and US markets.
Our Opinion: These new rules can change the trading atmosphere and may increase the brokerage rates down the line as working capital requirements for the brokers will go up.

Goa airport nears record flights
The peak of Goa’s tourism is the week between Christmas and New Year when lakhs of travellers from across the country come to the state. Airfares to Goa have spiked three-fold.

Goa Tourism contributes over 16% to the state GDP and supports over 40% of jobs and livelihood opportunities.

New airport controversy
The new Mopa airport aims at enhancing Goa’s connectivity by air, by aiding the flow of civilian traffic to the state. Although there has been some controversy due to the deforestation caused by its construction.
